The Role We are seeking an experienced and passionate Manager to take charge of one of our clients' Merino and Angus farms located near Holbrook, NSW. With the recent expansion, the property now encompasses 3,500 acres. As the Manager of the Holbrook property, you will play a crucial role in managing all aspects of the livestock and farming operations, including a flock of 6,000 Merino sheep, ensuring their optimal health and productivity, with a particular focus on achieving fleece quality of 16-17 microns and raising a store lamb. You will also oversee a herd of 400 Angus cows, undertaking an artificial insemination (AI) program for the heifers and coordinating the movement of progeny to our Tumbarumba farm for growth to feedlot weight. Additionally, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining a pasture renovation program to enhance productivity and manage the cutting and storage of silage, ensuring high-quality livestock feed. Utilising Agriwebb for effective farm management practices and accurate record-keeping, you will also have the opportunity to actively participate in a benchmarking group aimed at further enhancing operational efficiency. Collaborating with the owner, who lives off farm and the Tumbarumba Farm Manager, you will have the autonomy to work within the provided budgets effectively while ordering inventory required for the farm's operations, balancing operational needs with financial responsibilities. The Ideal Candidate We are seeking a candidate with proven experience in managing livestock and farm operations, specifically with Merino sheep and Angus cattle and the following attributes: A formal agricultural education or relevant certification will be highly advantageous. A keen interest in soil health and animal welfare, alongside a commitment to sustainable farming practices, is essential. Strong financial acumen to manage budgets and inventory, along with excellent leadership and communication skills, will set you up for success in this role. You will need to bring your own dogs for stock movement and possess the capability to handle livestock effectively.
